Well, we bought our first set of Thomas stuff. The kids LOVE it! Little People was not the thing for these kiddos. Apparently Thomas is their thing. :) So, officially the request for birthdays and holidays will be Thomas gifts. ;) We highly recommend them!

hehe, I love playing with those train sets! :)
FYI: the Take-Along Thomas sets (found at WalMart and Target) are cheaper than the wooden ones ($4-$7 per train vs. $20) and are die cast metal. The tracks are plastic though, but I have not had any issues with them. My boys LOVE our sets (we have SO many!). Also, the die cast ones were not part of the lead paint recall, where the wooden ones were. Thought you might like to know. CJ
We don't have much Thomas stuff (only a couple of cars from Wal-mart) but we have a couple of wooden train sets (one came from Target and the other from Walmart). They all work together well and the kids love them. We have had them for 4 years or so and the kids get them out on a regular basis to play with them. The boys were playing with them today and had quite the neat track going around their room.
I think trains like that are a great toy. My kids also use their little cars in the play too.
Our kids also have a "knock-off" that works with the Thomas wood trains. We love them. We were also lucky enough to find a train table at a garage sale a while back and that is nice we just put all our train stuff in totes underneath it. It contains the mess! ;) The knock off is way way way cheaper. Less then half the cost and you can always get them on clearance after Christmas too!
